  • Vin #

First of all nice place you guys got here.
On the other hand I'm a bit confused on something.

I have found the numbers 2H7-021078
    which if I'm not mistaken means I have a 79' F

The confusion is this I'm tryin to track down the old owner so I can get a lost title but if I plug these numbers in as VIN and do a search then it barks at me that the # is too short. Am I using the wrong #
    or what?

    Thanks in advance...

    James,

The program or whatever you're using to do a VIN search probably is set up for only 4 wheel vins, the bike Vin# is just what you have stated. I've not done any Vin searches, so can't advice you any further, perhaps some others here can?

      Thanks T.C.,

I have one more question. I have to do a request for vehichle records through the BMV in order for them to give me a title. When I fill out the paperwork under make /model is it XS11 or XS eleven or something else? I want to fill it out exactly as it would appear on a title so everything goes smooth.

        Well,

Here in Virginia, it's just labelled MOTORCYCLE, the year, and the VIN#, Make=Yamaha, this is on my registration cert., I can't find my title right now, but 2 other titles for frames I have, one from NY, one from California only state fuel=gas, cylinders=4, along with just style=MC, and Make=Yamaha, so you shouldn't need to worry about listing it as an XS1100 or such!

        Good luck.
