  • XS11 fairing on an XS750?

Will an XS11 factory fairing fit an XS750? May sell the fairing, and wondered what it will fit.

  • #2
If you have the right mount for the 750, the factory fairing (square headlight) will fit. Since it is a Vetter make, it will fit almost any bike provided you have the right mount.

Hey OldCruz, are you sure you want to part with the fairing? I'm pretty sure that these "originals" are non-existent on the open market. I have seen a few in my local bike bone yard, but they are all basket cases that need a ton of restoration. I don't believe in keeping things that aren't needed, but that is definately one thing I would hold on to, especially if it is the one with locking compartments (as opposed to the fairings with flaps that snap closed). It is interesting that you bring this up because I was talking with my biker buddies recently and it was stated that fairings are coming off of bikes because too many riders want to be like the guys on Orange County Choppers, Monster Garage, etc. What's your reasoning?

Well, I just bought this bike, and don't care for riding with the fairing. I ride a 2005 Roadstar silverado with a windshield and don't mind it, but that fairing just seems to obstruct too much. It has the locking compartments. I may keep it, but a guy at work was asking if it would fit his xs750, so, I thought I might part with it. The glass is clear, and other than matbe paint it's in great shape. It's maroon to match the bike.

          Oldcruz,
That is the original Pacifico fairing, NOT the Vetter. It is big, but will actually cut the air MUCH better than the Vetter fairing. The mounts will only fit the XS11 STANDARD model, IIRC. I'm in the proccess of putting one back on my daily ride, in place of a Vetter.
I like the mount system they used, and the fact I get more storage with the Pacifico. Try riding with it for a little while, in different weather/wind combinations. You may find you like it a lot more after yu have ridden with it.

When I got my first big that had a frame mount fairing (KZ1100 Spectre), I swore I was gonna take that thing off right away. I ended up riding around with for a couple of weeks and found that I really liked it. I made a shorter windshield out of some tinted lexan to improve airflow for the summer season. It really helped on long, highway speed trips. You don't realize how much you have to hang on at speed till you ride without one. With the lowers attached, it made the 12 degree mornings bearable. I now ride a full factory dresser and have come to like the full fairing and the saddle bags. I leave the rear trunk off unless I am taking a roadtrip. The OEM fairing are getting few and far between. I put a windjammer IV on my bike cause I like the way it looks over the OEM Yamaha but the OEM unit has been carefully hung from the garage ceiling. Ya might wanna hang onto it, its only going to increase in value.

when i bought my bike a few months ago, i never though i would go anyway other than naked, and sold off this beautiful kutter fairing with lowers, it was mint i got 120 for it and 220 for the cycle sound...

the fairing looked like an windjammer 2 or 3 but the thing was it had an 8" hella len and the opening to fit it,one off and a creme puff, man that was one of the dumbest thing i have ever done in my life lemme say that again , man that was one of the dumbest thing i had done in my life.

i just got an 1980 fairingfrom plandick nice and close enough even a cigar and genade , slooooo dance? any takers?

and a parts fairing from ebay, it was not suppose to be parts as per the seller, but when i looked at this piece of work, i wanted to neg the guy right away, he ship it in a box smaller than the fairing and the winshield broke, long to short, between the 2 and nuther 100.00 for a slipstreamer replacement with vents and i'm back into it for the 320, when i sell the cycle sound, i'll be up...

moral hang on to it cause the money you get won't buy you crap out there until you have spoken to the god and sages that helps you with these things, oh.... that would be the guru's here

Hey OldCruz -- you say that you just got this XS. I like to stay informed about the used motorcycle market, so would you tell me about the bike and how much you paid?? P.S. - congrats on your find, especially one with the fairing!!

Here's the story. A friend told me about a guy he knew that took this xs11 to a dealer for an estimate to get it running good. The estimate was $1000. He didn't want to put anymore money into it. He had the seat recovered, new battery, and carbs rebuilt. Well, I bought the title for $200, went to the dealer to see the estimate. Needed carbs rebuilt (whoever charged him before, didn't do it), new boots, new fuse block, tank cleaned, and some other minor things. This bike hadn't run since 94. Had them do the work. A ring was stuck on #2. Soaked for 2 days with MMO, no more smoke. Needs tires. Has 36,000 miles on it. Complete original fairing and hard bags w/ guards around bags and engine.
This is a 78 xs1100e first sold in Dec. 79. I'm the 3rd owner, but I really don't need it. From Spokane WA, Oldcruz

Great story OldCruz. I think it would be best if you kept this machine intact. It is pretty rare to find an XS with the optional stuff this has. Your talking about the two side bags and trunk also? You say that you don't need it, but there must be some interest there. I'm suprised the engine wasn't locked up after sitting since '94! Can you install a radio/tape player in the fairing? If so, you have yourself a nice little getaway mobile! The XS can be a great stress reliever.
