Gaffer,
I have NOT been able to find a good diagram of how to get rid of it. I think T.C. did a picture at one time. I'll try and draw up a diagram at home, and scan it in for you.

It's easy actually, I have done away with mine years ago. First, cap off the front nipple on each petcock. That is prime, you won't need it. Then just route a 1/4 inch hose from the the rear nipple on the petcocks to the opposing side carb. Done. Or, you can do like I had, and run a hose between both petcocks, and just cut and insert Y fittings where I needed to tap into the carbs, and just insert a short piece of hose on the carb inlet T and the Y in the line connects the petcocks. That way you can run on just one petcock only. I did it like that for years.
I don't recall posting a diagram for bypassing the Octy, just a diagram OF the routing FOR the Octy, just the same picture that's in the tech tips and most manuals.
Here's a nice picture Wayne Ilfrey drew for routing a fuel filter for the special, but it also incorporates bypassing the Octy!
It's a very nicely drawn picture, but I wouldn't loop it so much around the intakes. On mine, I have it with the "Y" fitting, then the filter(much smaller) right there, then just a small loop under the opposing intake, but then directly up to the "T" fuel fitting of that pair of carbs, NOT looping way back up and over!!
John's right, though, you don't really need the "Y" for the Prime spout, cause fuel will flow immediately when turned to ON without the presence of the Octy!

thanks for posting that Lamric. That is EXACTLY how I replumbed the fuel lines on my LG this summer although I never found or made a drawing for it. Figured the cross-over between the two sides would keep equal amount of fuel flowing to all 4 carbs regardless of the fuel level in the tank. or if I forgot to turn on one of the petcocks. Also, I blocked the front (PRI) nipple on both petcocks since it is no longer needed.
