i am going to try just putting a .065" thick washer under the washer based bolt. this will move the drive axle over about .040", this also moves the second gear wheel closer to fifth gear wheel. this should give the second gear about .035" more dog engagement..
.. .. i would like to retract this statement

..after reviewing the technical bulletin that i have recently found and added to another thread, i do believe that by just adding the washer to the end of the shaft will help second engagement but will cause the first gear to fail prematurely!
..you have to shim the first gear also, so that means you are going to have to take the trans apart.
.. sorry folks, every day is a new learning experience.

I kinda expected that...but I am just to ignorant about it to say so I kept my mouth shut.

Like the old maxim "I can be quiet and let people think I'm ignorant...or I can speak up and remove ALL DOUBT."

.. yeah so did i, but everyone wants the cheap and easy way out, so i thought i would try on one of my bikes anyway, you know- take one for the team. but after reading the tech bulletin, i'm not even going to try it... It is writen: "IT WILL NOT WORK"
