..i recommend an oil cooler for your bike if you live in Texas or Florida, but i dont think it is real necessary in Minnesota. you could do without the oil cooler if you really wanted to. i live in Fla and have had several of these bikes and i have never used one. in fact i have three of them in a pile in the garage that i have removed from some of those bikes. to me they are just more excess weight and wind resistance.
.. that black 80 Special looks to be in better shape than your standard. what would be wrong with fixing and keeping them both. its a great feeling to go out in the garage and pick whichever weapon you decide to ride to work, the bar or elsewhere.
..some days you feel sporty, some days you feel custom.

and yes, you da man, moto-man

Too bad, it was a turd.
The pics must've been from last year or even longer ago.

Cause it sure looked shiny in the pics, not so shiny in person. Also pushing 55k while mine's at 32K. (I'm aware of the longevity, but it looked rode hard put away wet if'n ya know what I'm sayn.)

The pipes were still in fine shape, but not enough for me to go for the whole thing.

I'm back in with Knewsom time to:

      "Take apart yer Carbs!"

As for the oil cooler, I've got a lot of friends down south having lived in VA for 8 years before moving up here, wouldn't mind keeping the cooler on for X-country trips...
