  • 78 XS1100E HINGE ON SEATPAN?? Original option?

I recently bought a seat which was listed as an original option for the 78 XS1100E. This seat has fittings which I'm pretty sure are part of hinge fittings.

I have the two slider bolts fitting on the seat I have now. So I was wondering if there are any fitting available to fit this seat.

The seat is in excellent condition, I hope someone can help me.

    thanks

So I guess I have an excellent condition xs750 seat for sale,

now the sizes seems to be very similar to the xs11 seats, would there be any way to fit it to the xs11.

maybe search for the fittings off a xs750....

I bought a foam and cover combo made by Saddleman and by mistake they sent me foam and cover combo from a 750. Didn't notice anything wrong untill I went to install. The 750 stuff is shorter than the 1100. I almost tore it up trying to stretch it over my pan.
There's always a way, figure it out.

IIRC the other part of the hinge on the 750 is welded to the frame. I have an XS750 special in the backyard under 3 bike covers (holding it for a pilot serving in Iraq). I'll try to peek underneath and see.

The other part of the hinge is attached to the right side of the frame, and it is held together with a clevis pin, and hitch pin or a cotter pin. You could use a nut and bolt in place of the clevis and hitch pin.

Yeah Im so reluctant to try to sell this seat it is in really good condition.

I appreciate all the input I have asked the guy I bought it from he said they will try to look for some solution so maybe I can fit it to the xs1100.

Just wondering if it will look wierd. Seat seems to be the same length and width just the rear end cuts off a little higher than the xs11.

If you can take a picture of the hinges setup on the 750 and mail it to me, I can show it to my welder frind see if he can work somethign out.

As always ideas and past experiences are always welcome.

              Thanks
