You best option to to have the current seat re-done. There are several places that will re-do a seat, based off the seat pan, and it can run from cheap to really expensive. If you have a local mechanic you trust, ask who they use for seats.

Personally, I am thinking about getting a day-long (www.day-long.com), but at $600 some thought and sucking up is required, and I might try to have the local vintage seat guy do a rebuild first.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

Here's what I did. I sent my seat to Sargent and had them customize it. It turned out better than I expected and it cost about $250. However I did it in the off season and got a 10%discount.

One more. Poprock just got a Diamond Custom. It is a HUGE touring seat and absolutely one of the more supportive and comfortable seat I have ever encountered on an Eleven.

They did an excellent job on your seat. I'll check it out.
            Thanks

                Diamond seat

I've had a Diamond seat on my XJ since the spring of '01. Price was about $423.00, (with shipping) and included a new seat pan. Came with a rain cover. Here is a comparison between the Diamond seat and the seat that was on my XJ when I got it:

                Diamond seat comparison

Note: Originally I thought my XJ had a stock seat, but have since learned it was probably recovered and not original.

Page noted above is not very sophisticated, sorry, just slapped it together for a couple people who were interested at the time.

It took about 500 miles for the seat to break in, and 5 years later it is still very comfortable. Red insert has faded some (you get your choice of materials / color for the insert) but otherwise the quality has held up through many thousands of miles, rain storms, storage, and all the other stuff a seat is exposed to.

Have never compared it next to a Day-Long or Corbin; at the time neither company would make me a seat, but have been very satisfied with the Diamond over the years. Diamond built the seat for me over the winter of 2000 - 2001 and let me pay for it in 3 payments, which made SWMBO a little happier. Its a good alternative brand if you are in the market for an upgraded saddle.

I think you'll LOVE IT! I've ridden Poprock's since he installed his on Kong ('80 Special). The seat feels almost as comfortable and supportive as a good car seat.

                      Good luck.
