  • Rear caliper sleeve & bushing

I'm rebuilding my rear caliper. Do I need to lube the sleeve and bushing or can I just clean it up and reinstall them?

My Clymer manual says nothing about lubricating the sleeve and bushing on the rear caliper.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

The manual says virtually nothing about the brakes aside from having your local Yamaha service tech work on them!

A thin film of brake lube on the bolt, sleeve wouldn't hurt, the caliper slides left/right on that during activation, and would allow it to retract, or at least slide enough to not tend to keep rubbing the rotor when released!

I put brake grease on mine when I rebuilt them. They work great now. I would suggest to put the grease on them.

          Thank You Gents,

I guess I'll be picking up some brake lube.
