  • XS1100 Idle jet setting?

    Hey All,
    I've done the main jet adjustment and found that the idle jets range from 3 turns to 5/8 turn. This seems pretty strange so I'm asking what's a good starting point for these? These were virgin carbs and I've just uncapped the idle jets.

    .. a good starting point would be 1 and 1/4 turns out then adjust them either direction from there until you get the smoothest idle from each carb

      Sounds good brother. Two of them were around 1-1/4 and 1-3/8 so that may be the range to start with. OHHHHH boy!

        Start with all the pilot screws 1-1/4 out.

        Do your synch with a mercury stick.

        After synch, with stick still attached, one carb at a time, rock the pilot screw in then out to attain the highest possible vacuum reading on that carb

        Move to the next carb, do all four

        Re-synch.

        You should then have the smoothest engine your side of the Mason-Dixon!

            Either way the result will be the same, but it's easier to see the change on the stick than it is to see on the tach
