  • Can't Find the miss

I have had my carbs apart several times, my bike runs strong but has a low end miss on the right side only. Although the carbs are working fairly well the bike is still running rich. I know two different problems. Back to the miss, will the coils break down or just go completely out. Any help out there will be totally appreciated. rwtrail

Now just what does that mean?
How do you know the miss is on the right side?
will the coils break down or just go completely out
    coils can do both.
What tells you that it's running rich?
Why have you been taking the carbs apart?
Let the bike idle for a few and spray a little water on the header pipes. Do they all sizzle or do you have a dead one on the right side?
Do all the plugs look the same? What about the ones on the right side?
    What's your compression numbers?

        missing problem

How are you. I just wanted to tell you that your missing problem is probably a bad float. I had a horrible miss accompanied by backfires. I took the bowl off the carb and found a small crack on one of the floats. I tried to solder the float, and that worked for about a week. I purchased a new float and the miss/backfire went away. I paid 22.50 for the float and my bike runs perfectly. I just thought I would let you know.

If your miss is only at low speed and apparently on one side of the motor, you're probably looking at a problem with carb #3 or #4. With a blocked low-speed circuit, that carb(s) could be leaning out to quit, then intermittently fire when it gets a bit of gas. I know you say you've been into the carbs a number of times, but it looks to me like you need to go in again. Sorry..

If you know you're still running rich, this is the time to get things all cleaned up properly and lower the floats a couple of mms.
