  • questions about final drive

i aquired a 78E last year and just got around to dragging it out and evaluting it, there seems to be alot of oil residue
around the breather cap on the final drive,

now i have never had that problem with my other one

I know i need to check the level of oil in the final drive but other than that any suggestions??

You'll probably want to take the drive off at the shaft and grease it liberally inside. That nipple doesn't get the grease all the way into the back of it.

      Re: questions about final drive

It takes 10.0 oz (US) to fill it. To check it, use a dipstick. If you are worried about a little oil there, don't sweat it, just wipe it off.
