  • Cali Riders?

I know in Indiana anything goes. But in Cali the epa standards are higher?

is there any grandfathering in? Do you guys/gals have problems in cali with your older bikes?

i got one fast 79 special headed that way.

No, EPA only was for NEW bikes. We don't even have an inspection requirement, other than the verification of frame and engine #'s on bikes from other states. After about 30 years, all smog on cars are out the window!!
Bring it on, and have fun. You WILL have to wear a helmet, and with the drivers around here, it's best to have a good one.

I'm not sure if the same applies to bikes as cars but when a vehicle from out of state becomes registered there is (was) a $300 "environmental impact fee"

I registered mine for the first time last month, after not being registered since 91'. It was $58, and a peace officer had to physically inspect the VIN and engine #'s, but that was the extent of it.

          Pat,
The $300 only applies to 4 wheels or more. When I got "Daily Ride", it had Utah plates. Just cost me 30 something to register, and DMV verify on the frame and engine #'s.

            awsome

Indiana requires the vin inspected but it can be done by a BMV employe or a police inspected vin. $5 Im not sure what the reg is. yet.

so devilray says no emmisions test. well shes 26 lets see what i can say in a hillbilly voice to get them to think i'm a degenerate from indiana. hehe. Why do curtin vehicles get emmisions tests? and not all? whats the point then?

Helmets a must out there, so many vehicles. i been to alot of different citys, but la. its almost unreal, theres so many people, all with vehicles. nuts. Im totally stoked for line riden' (Been trying to practice the xs' slow speed wheelbarrow- wobly wolb) But when theres a safe shot my ass is puttin up traffic, at the lights. no doubt.

            and motorcycle licences. ???
California has a stricter "knowlegde" writen test than other states. lets face it; indiana; well, ya.

deffintly gonna take the written test.? but not ridein" test?

                  Neighbors

Hey, man, looks like we're neighbors. I live on Verdugo Road just south of the Glendale border. If you ever drive down Verdugo you may see my '79 Special parked in the 4300 block. Mine is my daily driver as well. I have a few other vehicles/bikes, but the XS is my top choice and all I ride.

We should get together sometime. Mine is my daily driver as well. I've been on quite a few distance trips, San Diego, Palm Springs... Vegas is next.

What part of Glendale are you in? What parts are you looking for?

Any other Angelenos out there in XS land?

                    Hollywood,
Vegas is a short hop, not a long ride. I'll be going about 5K+ miles on the 15th of July. A quick trip to Ohio, and back via Washington State. These bikes are made to RIDE, and will hold up to LONG trips!

                        Driver Ray-

When you're 6'4" and you have a Special, 3.5 hours is long enough. I end up sitting on the back seat, and it's still cramped.
