paint color

this is my first time to send a message. I see sn xs11 on ebay with the color listed as coppertone. I know this is not a stock color but wonder if anyone knows what paints to use to get this color. thanks for any feedback.

Doe's this mean you’ve got an XS you want to paint?

If so, and you plan to paint it your self (taken that you got the equip) it's best to go to local paint store and check out there color selection. These they can "replicate" and normally have a very wide selection. Or if you have a color code from a car/bike manufacturer they can mix it up.

Custom colors??? you need to bring them a sample and they will "try" to match. Sometimes there even close.

I can come up with a paint code for a 79 xs11 special (black gold) if that is the same color as yours? If you have a different color (metal flake) you can take it to a auto paint store and they can some how "scan" the color and custom match a color for you. That is what I did on my carmine red and black gold 79 11 specials. Peoria, not too far from the Quad Cities??!!! Might be a good ride someday. What kind of shape is your 80 in? Got all the parts you need etc.? Got any pictures?

Thanks mro and dewibp for the feedback. This is my fourth xs11. The first being a 78 standard followed by an 80 standard,then two 80 specials. This special is original black in very good to excellent condition. All chrome and original exhaust are in great condition but I'm not satisfied with the black paint. I saw the coppertone color and thought that would look very good. thanks again for the feedback. I'll try to get a picture and figure out how to get it posted.

The guy on ebay, OLE, with the orange xs11 for sale was selling tanks/side cover sets this winter. You might want to contact him to see if he has complete sets. Very nice guy to deal with. Here is his web site. Ole@OlesClassicMotorcycles.com He restores old xs 11 and does very good work.
