Nice! Last Summer, Bob Jones told me that Yamaha "pirated" the color scheme for the Midnight series of bikes from what he had done with his first '78 XS11E. If you see his bike, knowing when he did the paint and wheel treatments, it's easy to believe. In any case, the Midnights, whether in pristine condition or restored, are beautiful additions to the XS stable. Congratulations, Burl

It runs great, but looks better in pictures than real life. The gold on the carb covers and grab bar need work and the black has its small dings. The engine also needs repainting.

After spending the last two summers getteing my XJ650 Maxim running like it should now I can work on the looks of my LG, my wife needed something to ride while I'm on the LG and I didn't trust the unpredictable responce throttle on the 650. (Books are ok but colortune is better.

Does any body know where to got the gold platting done and the aproximate cost?

I too have an LG and I have been looking into this site as a possibility of doing my own plating. http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/plugnplate.htm.

By the way what kind of pipes do you have on your bike. They look like a four into one?

Thanks for the tip. There 4 into 1 put on by the PO. He also took it to the one speed shop in town I'ld trust to do the carb work right and they did.

Looks like the pipes are a good black chrome finish. You don't have any idea what the name brand is do you?

Your bike looks good from the pictures but the plating the Yamaha used just didn't hold up well over time. Of course what do you expect after 25 years right. I will eventually strip all my parts down and replate. After that I would like to put a good clear coat over everything for protection.

Not trying to be nosy but how much did you have to give for the bike?
