  • Engine Case Guards mounting bolt.

    Hi,
Anyone have or know the best place to get the longer bolt needed to fit a set of guards.

I used a stick of "all-thread" (3 foot long threaded rod) and cut to the desired length. Two nylock nuts and I was good to go.

I had been using all thread for that engine mount for a few years now (5?). I got a real bolt with crash guard set and replaced that all thread because I didn't entirely trust it. The alltrhread was just like new.

OK, I've "sussed out" a couple of Engineers who can make me something out of Stainless Steel no problem. I have bought a lenght of High Tensile threaded rod but a friend told me he thought it may crack. That made me stop and relook at how to do it.
So you've had no problems Pat ?

          Thanks

No problems at all, and I don't baby this bike. I think the long bolt is inside a sleeve IIRC so corrosion shouldn't be a factor.
