  • Accessory terminals - unswitched??

    Guys,

Is it my imagination or is the accessory power terminal unswitched? Mine is live, key off. Is that by design, or have I wired it wrong when I re-wired the harness, oh 2 or 3 years ago?

Anyone out there using those terminals, how is yours wired?

    Thanks!

    Randy,
You did wire it correctly. The ACC terminal is always "hot", so you will need to keep that in mind when putting things on that circut.

Well, I'll be damned! How stupid is that? Some re-engineering is in order, mates!

Use a relay if you "re-engineer" the circut. That way, you pull just a SMALL current to energize the circut. As of now, I beleive it's wired directly off the battery.

That's right, its connected to the hot side of the MAIN fuse. I'm running small LED accents, so I'll skip the relay, the relay will draw more than the LED's! I'm going to hook it to the signal/tail lighting circuit.

Oh great guru, I am again humbled to reply to your post . It is hot all the time, real easy to leave your custom mounted running lights on in front of the biker bar on a Friday night and have to bump start your badass riceburner in front of the HD boys cause you stayed too long in the bar and ran the battery almost dead and because you smoke too much you hope to god it pops off the first try cause its uphill on the next try (breath, pant, pant). Relay tied into "switched" circuit installed the next day. I now return to humble masses of my orgin.

Randy's the Guru, I just try to keep up with the correct answers.
My two bikes BOTH have the "kick start" option, so I don't have to try and push.

Oh sure, kickstart it showoff . I don't hafta lug all that "extra" weight a kickstarter adds. Now, wheres my inhaler, I left the radio on again.
