  • No spark

Started the bike up again today after tearing down for the winter. She ran for an hour or so last weekend and then for a half hour or so today. It quit sounding like it was missing a bit. After some troubleshooting, we hooked up a spare spark plug and turned it over and had only a weak spark. We measured the resistance from plug 1 to plug 4 and the book says it should be 15K Ohms. We would get momentary readings from 10 -20, but only for a second. Then nothing. After checking spark again, we have nothing. We're stumped. Any thoughts?

Are you measuring THRU The plug cap, or only thru the wire(take the plug cap off)! The caps have little resistor cartidges in them that can develop corrosion on both ends, and induce lots more resistance than should be. Just unscrew the caps, and inspect the wire ends for corrosion while you're at it, and then remeasure them. IF still nothing, then sounds like a fried coil!?

After further investigation, the pulsar coil assembly never got tightened down and vibrated off and ... yaaaa. They're toast. Nasty bad habit of not tightening, but meaning to come back to it. Ya I came back for it alright.
