Original Paint Colours

Hello,
When Yamaha produced the XS1100E 78mod, did they only paint them one colour ie: Muccho Maroon or did they paint them in different colours? Also would there be any records to find out things such as paint colour of a bike using it's ID number.
My bike is a very dark brown in colour and the guy I bought it of claims that these bikes were painted in different colours from the factory not just one.

The "E" was a North American issue and came in Macho Maroon, which in the right light looks brown.

Don't know if you have a European model, but they wre named 1.1 (referencing displacement in liters, i guess) and I've seen factory photos of them in red or in white.

That's all i know.

Are you sure it ain't got F tank and panels ?? would they fit??

Over here (uk) the 1.1 was a badge on the XS1100S (as in the picture of Stings bike on this forum somewhere)

And the Martini model had 1.1 as well

But we had our own market E model not sure on F OR OTHERS??

seen Silver ,Black ,Red ,Blue ,Grey/Blue on what i think are E's over here as well as Maroon

I think that picture will be your brown colour tho ??

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Not sure if I have "F" body work. My bike liiks the same style as the broucher, just very dark maroon/brown. I'll try and submit a photo over the next couple of days and see what you think.

is that the colour?? that is the maroon on most E models

That one is a beuty for over here as we ain't got many over here!!

sorry this is the link to the brand new bike on ebay

they are after about about $12,000.00 dollars £5,600.00 pounds GBP for this !!!think it was bid up to approx $10,000.00 before and reserve not met

expect the maroon one will fetch$3,500.00 - $5,000.00 or there abouts

No , it's closer to the colour of the bike in photo dated 2006/01/15.
I've sent a photo into the website so hopefully it will appear soon.
