81SH Kickstarter?

My 81 SH has a cap where the kickstarter would go. Are they all the same? How hard is it to connect one?

The 78-79's had a stub shaft, that a temporary kick start lever would attach to. In 80 the kick mechanism was eliminated, but instead of recasting the clutch cover and closing the kick start shaft hole, they just put a plug in the hole. To install a kick start shaft. You will have to find a 78-79 engine, split it open, remove the kick assembly, and then split your cases to install it. Not worth it if you ask me.

lol. You had me at "split your cases". My engine has left the frame for the last time in a LONG time.

exactly!! I wish I had know that while my engine was out of the frame for months. I have that shaft and think I'll hang on to it until the engine comes out again.
