Ever notice that a drag racer only runs for a 1/4 mile at a time also and then gets the whole engine rebuilt.

Drag racers get rebuilt more often than street machines but not after every race and not because of back breathing warping the exhaust valves.

You might want to look at this site under 'Tech Stuff' and you'll find an easy way of adding baffles to your pipes.

say, that's a pretty stellar idea! hell, I was going to just take a piece of steel with a hole cut out of it and JBWeld it to the inside of the pipe, just after the main muff body, but I think I like this idea even better! I might end up putting in two, one right at the beginning of the muff, one at the tail as described - should quieten it just a smidge (I want to be loud, but not deaf, and I like listening to music on headphones - I'm a Vivaldi nut), and allow for more thorough tuning.

Another good idea for that system would be to carve a notch in the bolt at the bottom, so that when you're looking at the thing from outside the muff, you can accurately gauge the angle, even if it's closer up towards the header.

Extra bonus to adjustable baffles: you get to make the bike quieter when you go visit the folks, or when ya try to come home late after a late night with the fellas without waking up SWMBO... but you still get to be nice and loud on the road.
