    Stainless Lines - I'M SOLD!

    I just got back from a 2500 mile road trip to the desert (west Tex, New Mexico). A few days before departure I installed SS Brake lines.

    WOW WOW WOW! I can almost do a stoppie on this full dressed Maxim!

    I'm sure if I had replced these old originals with OEM hoses I would have had the same result. The main poinit here is to REPLCE OLD LINES!!!

    SS teflon lines are a better choice because they won't break down over time.

    Well, duh!! Guess you didn't have a chance to test them out on my bike huh? Hopefully this summer you'll get another opportunity. By the way, the tranny on my bike doesn't make any more noise than dads bike. So I'm not so worried about it now. It's not jumping out of gear or anything, so it looks like I'll nurse it through another year.

        where did you get you lines at and are they ready to be bolted on or what do you have to do i thought about replacing mine this year

          Sounds like a great ride! I also would like to know where you bought them. I found a few sites that will custom build them as long as I provide measurements and angles, but no place has any ready made for the XJ. Do you have the info on what you purchased, and where from?
          1984 XJ1100 - 79 cams, XS850 FD, XS triple tree/euro cafe bars, hydraulic clutch, bar end mirrors, yamaha R1 rear mono-shock
          1972 CL350 - clubmans, Mike's XS coils/condenser, '98 Yamaha R1 rearsets (If I can find some at a decent price)

                  I bought them at bikebandit. They are the Bikers Choice brand. You buy what ever length you need and the banjo connections for the ends. They are affordable and look nice.

                  I simply measured the lines and bought the pre-made lengths...then used 35 degree ends...10mm. They all fit fine.

                    Yeah, I know that was a little harsh. Hope it makes you feel better that I was amazed with the improvement also. To the others, I paid a premium to Merriam Cycles for fitted lines. Somewhere around $240 I think. Not the cheapest route, but I wanted to make sure they fit the first time.
