  • Vetter wiring harness needed.....

If anyone can help me out, I'm in a bind. My bike-to-Vetter pigtail wasn't in the best of shape, so yesterday I took it apart to repair. Bike-side Molex connector (which attaches to the Vetter fairing) was showing frayed wires, and headlight would intermittently go out. I was able to remove and repair all the pins, except 1.

Yep, the headlight pin appeared to be welded into the Molex connector. I broke it trying to get it out; the other 4 or 5 pins I worked on came out no problem. I tinned the bike-side lead to give it a little more diameter, and it is now pushed into the fairing-side connector and is working, but I belive it could shake loose while I'm on the road.

In short, does anyone have a messed-up pigtail? I could pull a pin out of it and fix mine.

I'm bidding on a couple eBay units, but would rather fix what I have - only need 1 miserable pin! - than to pull the assembly and replace it.

      Jerry,
You can buy the pins, if that is all you need. I can mail you one if you can't find them, as I may have some downstairs in the lab at work.
The pins and sockets are .093" AMP, and you can get them at Radio Shack.

        DiverRay:

I'll give Radio Shack a try. My local one went through a remodel a few months back, cut down drastically on part/pieces they stock, made more room for clock radios, I guess. I'll let you know what I find.

McMaster-Carr has pins in 100 unit lots.....you will find them on catalog page 724.

FWIW, each pin has a small "finger" that pops open and keeps the pin from sliding back / out of the connector. I took a jewlwer's screwdriver, pushed this "finger" to the closed position, pushed the pin down with the end of the screwdriver, and they came out easily. (This is on the bike side male pins.) Thats why I was surprised when the last one stuck in the shell.

I have been offered a replacement assembly (Thanks Webbcraft!) but I would like to repair the one I have and keep it as a spare.
