    Eddie,

There's good soldering and bad soldering.
Poorly soldered joints, although they may look good and pass enough current to show on a meter, may not pass enough current under load to work the coil.

Maybe yout TV guy re-re-soldered and let's see.

BTW, what type of solder did you use? Not the brand but what composition and what flux?

60/40 rosin is the right one.

          lil ole me

ya all i had done was reheat the soder that connected the pins. caused them to melt.
Next mission is to find someone in the area that might let me use their tci box. but first i have to find someone with a comprable XS.

does anyone have a TCI box i may Borrow?

I just got rid of this gremlin, so I am familiar with your pain (see Running Bad...) I remember reading all of the posts and being a little overwhelmed... I didnt know you could remove the case cover without losing oil... didnt know what the "case cover" was for sure... and a million others. Trust these guys, they know what they are talking about! I have a broken TCI on the way to be repaired by the doc (Randy), if you dont get a donor soon, it may be available when repaired.

              Eddie,
As you live in LA, the mail should be quick from here. I do have a "spare" box you can borrow for a little while. I will need it back once I have the engine done on the "winter project".
PM me your mailing address, and I'll drop it in the mail for you.

XS1100 SF Bob Jones worked on it!

                All over the place

                Dude Thanks, everyone of ya.

ya i'm not stressed. today in my searching i found a cycleshop within the county (luck) that had a TCI. Its a place i never heard of but my calling around through the yamaha shops(boneyards) near me that i've already worked with, well before COIL MAddNeSSS.

Gonna trailer the bike cross county to stick a TCI box on it. if it works then i have a bad box. Which i've had resodered (fixed). BUT if it dosent work, then suicide is the only option. haha Satuerday morning.

and thanks DiverRay , really thats cool. I'm currently in NY and when my Beauty Black runs, then i'll be back in LA.

                D-Day Satuerday...

                  Fire

realised this morning why i like spark so much.

                  She purrrrrrs

an Hour drive cross county, towing the bike. Spark in all four plugs. $150 to a Charlie @ small business, House on one side bonyard on the other. (Buy local, if anything)

So damn skippy. it was the TCI. I'll have to get my original fixed. so i can pass along this new one.

Burning rich or oil outta 1/2 muffler; smokey smoke. but a purrrrrr

gonna get this bitch dyno'd and i'm off. Local shop has a dyno, freinds of my Uncle.

Again thank all ya'lll. maybe i might be able to add a 2 cent sometime. ya haha
