    exhaust

Afternoon folks, got a rookie question.
What is the best method for cleaning the exhaust where I have touched my heel to it?
While I am at it, I have wondered if it is possible to remove the megaphone mufflers and replace them with some kind of after market pipe that would not look weird on my 82 XJ1100J?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Re: exhaust

Try (on a cold pipe) fingernail polish remover or acetone, or try paint stripper, or try laquer thinner.

Down to one 1978 E. Stock air box with K&N filter, 81H pipes and carbs, 8500 feet elevation.

You could check on ebay for a new set of aftermarket pipes...but beware...you will be looking at the 300 + price range for a new set of pipes, and after that, you're most likely going to have to rejet the carbs...(not a big deal, but just so you know) Anyways...welcome to the club!!!

get it hot and then, with a leather glove on, rub it off with steel wool. One of those stupid plastic shopping bags hit my headers while riding.

I agree with skids, Use a cloth and laquer thinner. It will take a while but you won't scratch it.
There's always a way, figure it out.

stay away from steel wool if you don't want you pipes to rust after you're done

Oven cleaner spray I was told to work pretty good.
