I have a left side cover for a 80 special. I bought it last year thinking it would work on my midnight special...wrong. Anyway if you need one I will sell it to you. I paid $100 for it. It is that grey color. PM me if your interested.

I would be interested if it fits. Sixty six......thanks for the advise but I searched multiple variations of "sidecover" for an hour before I asked....I'm sorry to be a bother but maybe if you could point me in the direction of the thread that answers my question I won't have to trouble you any more.

          Not a bother, but....

I just looked for a while and didn't find it either, maybe it was an email thread or something. There are two basic types, round holes and slots. But there were like 3 different varieties (not counting emblems). Wish i could be more help, I sold my herd of XS's.

          ...can anybody else help here?

Hey, I'm in the same situation, looking for a 80G left side cover. As far as I can tell only 80 - 81 standard side cover will fit. They have round top mounting holes, as opposed to slots on the earlier ones, and a different shape as the same year specials. Lost mine last august and am still looking.

Will probably have to get a reproduction fiberglass one from Merriam cycles, hand made and $$$!

My 80G: Round mounting holes left side
              Slots on the right

Was just looking at the 80LG yesterday and can't remember if it is the same

If the LG is like the SG, then all mounts will be round. The G takes the same right side cover as the SF, I believe...Need one for the right side?

                  Yea - thats right.

These bikes only lose the left side, cause their so hard to find.

You can't see both sides at once.

If all you can find is a different year or different model sidecover, they can be made to fit.
Bought my XS11SG without the rightside cover. After much e-search bought a rightside cover from an XS11F as the nearest I could find.
F has slots where SG has holes but the bottom plug thingie is identical. Reinforce the top with aluminum sheet pop-riveted in and carve the appropriate holes with a Dremel tool to fit. Sure the shape is a little different but you can't see both sides at once.

I have a set off an 80sg, unfortunately, I broke the left side bottom off before I had a clue of what I was doing. I have the piece still, but broke is broke.

I am interested in trading or partially trading for 79sf sides. Anyone?....Anyone?....
