  • Electrical Problems

I am not getting any spark from the ignition coil for cylinder 1 and 4. I have replaced the ignition coils the pickup coil I have checked all of my connections and fuses. The only thing I havent replaced is the ingnition coil balist and the ignition box. I dont have the equipment to test these electrical parts so I am taking my chances with used parts. I cant belive that all of the parts I have purchased are bad. The only thing I feel it can be is the IGNITION BOX but I am not sure. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me ASAP.

    Thank You

PS. The bike was running great and will still start right up and idle even on two cylinders ?

    Todd,

    Welcome to the show!

It won't be the ballast resistor, if it was fried, there wouldn't be any spark anywhere!

To test your TCI (ignition box) go here:

    Randy's XS page

You may have dirty connectors, or you may have to re-solder your TCI pins.

          Ignition Box

          Randy

I ended up going to a local salvage yard and getting a used ignition box and hoping it would work. I wouldnt have any idea how to test or fix the circuit board on the ignition box so I had no choice but to get another one.

Thanks again for your help: Todd
