  • Carbs for my 1980 Yamaha XS1100SG

I have a new set of Carbs for my 1980 Yamaha XS1100SG that I am restoring. I have rbuilt the new carbs with all new gizzards and I was just going to install them and.

It looks like they a just a tad different than the old.

Questions: The new Carbs have 4 fuel inlets? Anybody know how to do the plumbing? The diagram for the old carbs only shows 2 hoses.

The New Carbs have extra brass adjustment valves. What do they do?

Sounds like you have a set of older, 78-79 carbs. The upper T fittings are for float bowl vents, They attach to the small nipples on the top front of the airbox. On the 80SG, those nipples are blocked off, so you will need to open them up. I don't see any photos, but I'm guessing that the extra adjustments you are referring to are the pilot screws located on the top front of the carbs, on the engine side. (I grew up in the Waterville area) Wicked, huh?
