  • Removing the Timing plate

I am trying to replace the left crankshaft seal on my H, and I can't get the timing plate off. Clymers just says "remove the hex bolt holding on the timing plate" no mention of torque or anything, and trying to get it off is actually moving the whole bike on it's centerstand.

Is there some trick here that I am missing, or can I skip this part and removing the whole thing?
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

Never mind, I just needed a bigger lever.

I worked at one of those for quite while once before I realized it was the allen wrench fastener in the middle that was holding it on, not the big square part that looked like a good place to apply a wrench.
