  • Cam Cover Torque Specs?

Are there torque specs for tightening the cam cover? I don't see anything in my repair manual, but it seems odd to have no torque spec on aluminum with a gasket.

One of my manuals gives a table of general torque specs based on outside thread diameter of the fastener as follows:

    6mm 7.2 ft-lb
    8mm 15 ft-lb
    10mm 25~29 ft-lb
    12mm 29~33 ft-lb
    14mm 33~36 ft-lb
    16mm 41~49 ft-lb
    18mm 42~50 ft-lb
    20mm 50~60 ft-lb

The cam cover is 6mm fasteners, so you want 7.2 ft-lb. You will probably want to use a small size torque wrench calibrated in inch-lb to get this.
