  • Where does this go to?

I pulled the engine over the winter and now i can't figger out where this hose goes to. One end of it attaches to the spot in the pictures and the other end appears to have clamp marks, but i can't find anything that it would clamp to.

That is the engine breather hose. It went to the front of the airbox. You can put a small filter on it, and put it near the frame or battery box.

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

I used to have carpet on my shop floor. Then my wife made me take my bike out of the sun room!

            "Take off, you hoser!"

HHmm... arrow could be pointing to TWO hoses. There's the big hose nipple thing it's pointing at, that's the crankcase breather, and yes, it goes to the air filter box. Then there's the little hose that the arrow's actually touching, and that's the breather hose for the middle gear box, and that just vents downward.

              Hey prom,
Check the Guru at the door!!
The middle gear breather goes UP, along the frame near the battery, and stops near the back of the fuel tank.

                "Well... that's interesting!"

No one corrects me before I've had my first cup of coffee and lives to tell of it!
Hmmm... the middle gear on my "F" vents downward. Hmm.. I see that on the "E" it also vents downward, as it should. But this insolence is disturbing and the question warrants further investigation.
DiverRay says it should vents upward... as does the Clymer and the Yamaha Service Manual. How could the THREE of them be so MISTAKEN?
There... that was simple. Anybody have anything else that they want me to clear up for them?

And the interesting part of it prom, is the reason.
It vents up, so when you ride in the rain, the water won't get sucked up into the gear box as the water drops the temp of the case. But then, living where you do, you knew that...

not a hoser, just an internet supposer.

sooo, what type of filter would one IDEALLY put at the end of that 'thar hose? Would a large fuel filter work?? I've never seen an air filter that small, and I'm trying to think of "safe" alternatives in case I can't find one.

Go to your local bike shop and tell them you need a filter for the crankcase vent. They have them. (Or should)
