Coldwater, Mississippi to Waynesville, Missouri and Back

I have a cousin who just retired to Missouri. A plan came together to make a visit. So, last Friday evening, I set out. Not long after crossing Big Muddy, I was riding across Arkansas rice paddies and chasing a pretty red sunset. It was getting difficult to see through the smashed bugs on my face-shield. Upon my arrival in Batesville, AR, I cleaned it in the hotel shower. Saturday morning began my ride in the Ozarks.

Entering Missouri, I'm looking for MO-19. I followed that route to Salem, where I picked up 32 west. These were beautiful winding roads. The scenery is fantastic, the pavement smooth, and NO TRAFFIC! Maybe I should keep that a secret.

On Monday, I got back on the road for the 470 miles back to Coldwater. I have nothing to write about. My bike ran perfectly, the weather was perfect, the roads were perfect and there was NO TRAFFIC.

Hey Marty, had your fuel mileage improved since installing the proper needles in your carbs? I remember you had been chasing that problem for some time. Looks like an awesome trip you had.

Hey Marty, had your fuel mileage improved since installing the proper needles in your carbs? I remember you had been chasing that problem for some time. Looks like an awesome trip you had.

Since replacing worn out needles and emulsion tubes, I'm getting 35 mpg or better. 40 mpg under the right conditions. Half of this trip was at 60-70 mph and I never logged less than 35 mpg. I had also replaced my coils with the Dyna kit from XJ4Ever.com. BTW, he has reproduction needles and emulsion tubes for the XS1100SG and probably others. I'm very happy with the performance of my high mileage machine. It sure beats the 25 mpg I was getting!

It is a good time indeed! I noticed that my captions don't remain under the correct photos. I also could not post all the photos within the text. This is still far better than what we had!

Yes, there are not a lot of good pictures. I was busy driving the machine. Stories are more interesting when something unexpected happens, overcoming adversity, that sort of thing.
