  • MaximPhil's Ride home from XSSE

I was going to highjack BillyRocks thread but thought better of it

    Left ,early for me,

to meet Mike in bryson city for breakfast.
    Oops no picture
Rode Hwy 19 through Cherokee and the hills in some rain ( so no picture)
    Visited Wheels through Time

After the visit said good bye to Mike and having found a brochure with a map headed for Asheville and I 26 to find The Snake. Hwy 421 Tennesee from Mountain City through Shady valley.

Looking back the way I had come.

Looking back at the end of the snake.

A shor drive up I 81 brings me to Marion VA and the star of the Back of the Dragon. I did this one in the dark last year

Weather window had worked for me to ride these two iconic roads but
It was raining by the time I arrived in Tazwell and dark by the time I made it to the motel in Princeton WV.
Raining in the morning and heavy at times for the rest of my ride home. So no more pictures.

Good choice adding an extra trip day rather than that just a long run straight home after the SE Rally (with obligatory early AM departure). As Brent says, many smiles per mile.

the 16's make a nice ride. NC16 from Waxhaw NC dumps into VA16 into WV16 ending in St Mary's WV on the Ohio River. Along the way, lots of curves and some whacky technical stuff too.

A couple other real good 16's too. Capay Valley Calif Hwy 16 foothills of the Sierras up to Clearlake. Lived in Sacramento so rode that many times especially when the state flower (poppy) were in bloom.

Texas 16 a goodie too. Mex border up to Possom Kingdom lake through TX Foothills. yummie huevos rancheros to a bratwurst in Fredicksburg to beef brisket. A good eating road.

I sure like your latest bike purchase. A great touring machine + fun to ride. Always great to see some pics.

You need to plan a February Key West run again sometime.

Waiting for a parking spot at the Carolina Smokehouse BBQ in Cashiers
(guess your bike passed the water soak test on the Day 2 return ride north WV, PA, NY leg)

....... but as Ian posted on mharrington new GS1100E (replaced my 79 1100F thread), red is faster??

A great find wherever you located this nice Kawa.
