  • Sarasota Florida to Berea Ohio!

    I'm typing this in Ohio.

    Been here since Monday morning.
    Left Saturday afternoon.

Btw, while up here, I found a 99.9% COMPLETE OEM duel exhaust for my bike, it was in a bike shop in Ritton Ohio. Oh... And it was 50$

It only needs one of the clamps for one inner tube in cylinder 2

My buddy took his Honda vlx 600. And I'm on my xs1100.
We have been taking tons of videos on our gopro blacks.

I will edit up a nice video of the trip when I get back.

If that is the exhaust you speak of.........it isn't oem.

Header look oem but the mufflers are not. They are some brand of slip on mufflers.

Still a smoking deal on a clean exhaust though!

Well darn. I saw the headers and knew those were OE.

I saw the cross pipe and thought it looked a little plain to be oe... Either way, my bike LOVES these pipes so much better. And they are so quiet!

That's a nice ride. Did you go straight up I75 into Ohio, turnpike east?

If the exhaust has a cross pipe it is likely a Jardine set of mufflers on there. That is what the pic's look like to me any ways. I have a set on one of my 78 E's and they look good. For 50 bucks I would have jumped on them in a heartbeat!
Good Buy as far as I know.

Good find!. Those ARE Jardine slip-ons. Have a set with the cross-over, new, still in original box wrapped in plastic with all the hardware specificly for a Standard.

I didn't even need any hardware.... The previous owner left it all attached to the frame... So it was plug and play for me.

Only one issue is that the no. 3 header leaks a little at the block... There isn't anywhere near here that would carry the crush gaskets, so I'm gonna have to make due with some high heat RTV or something till I get back to FL.

Funny thing is, the leak is louder than my exhaust. It's insane how quiet these are.... I can actually hear my valves, transmission, even my blinker relay...

Go old school and use some heavy gauge wire, or use rope caulk. It'll burn initually, but it will eventually seal well till u get some gaskets.

Copngrats on your long distance travels!! You most certainly are crossing through the 'Nati on your travels (since that is where I-75 and I-71 meet up). I just got back from a week in the Smokey Mountains myself, boyscout troop trip. Not on a bike though.

Hope you have a dry and safe trip home. Most bike shops will sell the gasket(s) you need, but most are not open on Sunday or Monday.

We are thinking of taking this route home tomorrow..
It is faster, and goes through different places than before.

That is a huge jamboree, not my cup of tea really.

That route down I-77 will be a more direct route, it is also VERY hilly comparatively. And sections of it are toll road. But it will get you where your going quicker I would suspect.

                              Hi Sparkfly88,
That looks like a good route. As mentioned WV has lots of elevation changes and the Interstate has some lovely sweepers. On 19 through Summersville WV WATCH your speed because the cops will be out (always are day and night) IF you can spare the time: Take the last exit in WV before the tunnel) and head for Tazwell then follow 16 through Hungry Mother state park. Comes out at Marion on I81
Have a good and safe ride.
