  • A little Fungo in Pungo, VA.

    Hey there folks,

Well, I'm not one for being able to quote the roads and such, I usually just follow the leader!! George(GloweVA) was nice and courageous enough to host our first local mini-rally this weekend. Regrettably, only a few of us were able to make it.

It was a bit of an exploration ride as well, kinda like Star Trek.

Virginia, the Flat Frontier: These are the voyages of the tidewater Xsives, our never-ending mission, to explore strange new roads, to seek out new riders and new twisties, to boldly lean how no Xsive has leaned before.

So...we ran around the Pungo area, down to the Currituck Ferry and back with a few jaunts down some side roads and such. A decent collection of mostly sweepers with a few sprinkles of actual switchback/twisties that we could lean and throttle through. As I mentioned in the member's lounge invitation thread, we came across some Harley's just out for a Saturday Cruise....so when the chance happened a made a break for it, flew by them and George and Charles and was able to experience a few miles of the end of the road before we arrived at the Ferry.

Below is evidence that I was able to attain speeds in excess of bug 1.0 in the ~45mph limit forbidden zone. Okay, now for the photos!

I tried taking a video clip, but it's was too difficult to try to hold the camera AND the throttle/handlebar and negotiate the turns!

Hopefully we can put together a bigger run/ride for the July 4th weekend!?

yesterday was an awesome day for a ride! I didn't get to go anywhere on my bike, so I will ride to my dads today for fathers day. That will be a good 50 mile twisty ride. I love the dragon fly pic. Glad you guys had fun. When I come to Virginia beach next year, I am going to look you guys up.

Awww TC, Look at all that protein you missed! And you probably could have used it after a nice long ride like that.

We're gonna call the sequel: "The Search for Twisties in Toano"!
          I'm thinking the 6th or 7th of July. (Sat/Sun)
I'm hoping if we put it out there far enough ahead of time, we can get the others here in the Tidewater area to schedule some time for a little 1/2 day ride.
Here's something that I just put together:
          https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid...533db062&msa=0

Yeah it sure was fun to lead. When those brand new Harleys were running so slow in front of us, then I heard the scream of 'Zilla and vroom, there he went!
About 1/4 mile later those 2 turned off, so Charles and I coudl then catch up.
Hi, my name is George & I'm a twisty addict!

Ahem, Godzilla doesn't Scream, it's ROARs!!!

Just a 1/2 day.....not with going all the way to Toano..., I think we need to set it for a full day, leave early, get there, do some roads and find a nice restaurant for lunch, then do some more roads, and THEN finally come home!
