We couldn't have had a better time to make this run. After being cooped up here in Reno all winter, we were looking for an excuse to go south. We found it. I bought another '80 special in Tucson. On the way back, I had to stop in Jerome. If any of you reading this ever get the chance, this is definitly the king of Ghost Towns. Not to mention, the highway to it weaves through 15 & 20 mph turns for miles. Check out these pics, though amature. I hope they'll give some idea.

Jerome is a funky old mining town, and has become a destination for bikers. Built on the side of a hill, the town has bikes only parking in a few places and bike reserved parking in some lots. Its not far from Prescott, where I lived for a couple years, and this was a favorite couple hour excursion. The road over Mingus Mountain (west of Jerome) is a lot of fun to ride. Town isn't just a tourist trap; many of the shops offer stuff you won't find elsewhere. Furniture, metal work, photography, other craft items all available.
Many combine a visit to Jerome with a trip up Oak Creek Canyon (Sedona) to Flagstaff, then back home. From Prescott this makes a nice 6 - 8 hour day, depending on how much time you take to visit shops and eat.Jerry Fields
