  • Day Trip Tomorrow...

A group a coworkers and I are planning a day trip tomorrow. Weather went from mid 70's and clear to 10% chance of sun, mid 60's with 30-40% chance of rain. Hoping the weather holds out and just stays dry, a few light showers will be tolerable. Our plan is to try and get 3-400 miles in round trip. Main attraction is Watkins Glen (my home town area) which is 100 miles south of my house up in Mexico NY. Our mission is to watch the Mobile 1 car swap (see link below) and ride the local roads. Nothing too exciting for roads but living up near Ontario lake there arnt hills for about an hour in any direction so this will be a nice treat. Got the bike all ready, all oils changed, flushed the front brake fluid and had a carb sync with the help of Mr.66 not too long ago. I thought the sync did more harm than good at first then I discovered one petcock vac line was off making it run like crap. Plugged it back in and found the low end power Ive heard so much about. Bike is running better than it ever has so Im excited. More pictures to follow!

    recap...

Well, ended up clocking 270 miles on Tuesday, and averaged 40 mpg. Overall it was worth it despite the weather. Departed at 0700 to meet two coworkers only 15 miles away, then proceeded south to Weedsport to meet a friend.

Up to that point, 30 minutes in, it had been dry just very overcast. Heading south we got into a misty sprinkle and an occasional hard sprinkle that stayed with us the entire ride down to Watkins some 100 miles from my house. Decided to go straight to the track and see what was happening. Had a crappy wait in traffic to park then finally got in... Here are some pictures and vid clips.

(Let me know if you cant view the videos)

Watching the F1 car scream around the track was GREAT! That was the first time I've ever seen one in person, the sound is amazing. Then watching Lewis Hamilton rip on Tony Stwerts car was just as fun. Unfortunately I didn't catch it with my camera phone but, on Lewis's last lap he drift Stwerts car around the corner then blew doughnuts on the start finish line!

By that time the weather was starting to clear and it stopped misting. We decided to get some lunch at the local pizza shop and warm up. By that point everyone decided it was time to head back as the weather wasn't cooperating. So, we hit a few twisties heading out of town and made our way north. Wish I would have taken more photos of the countryside but we really didn't do much stopping... there's always next time I guess.

Thanks man, it was a good time. Almost watched them smash that Red ZR1 right into the wall. Track was wet and it steped out on a downhill corner... My buddies are big F1 race fans and were both played a big part in our Alumni's Formula 1 SAE team... there are more videos on photobucket, just look through it.

I watched all the videos and in some of them I could hear engines revving up and down like mad as the drive tires slipped/spun/caught/slipped/spun/caught all over the wet track -- awesome!

Anyway, nice clips and pictures and thanks for the related search terms for YouTube, I'll check it out!
