  • tails from the dragon

Went riding the dragon Friday.over all it was nice. Except a bunch of of got stuck behind a trucker! Ugh and right after the first couple of curves ... you can see it in some of the photos.

The pics are on killboy.com June 3rd. Sport bike page 8 top
    Cruiser section page19,20,21, and 28.

I was so excited while looking at the photos then I found out the price! What a ripoff. Over 100 bucks for 22 photos. Guess ill have to pick one.
Unfortuanitly there were tons of cops. So you had to keep it close to the speed limit. Its set at 35!
I think I'll stick to the roads down here ...

Pics look good, but 35mph.... are they serious Corners like that and they expect 35. Personally I wouldn't bother with it on a bike at that speed, i'd take the scenic route in a car, or a bus or something.

Brian, They post the limits at a rate that goofballs trying to tow a trailer twice the size their car is rated for will be able to make the turns. And the cops sit on that road alot, because just as many idiots on bikes decide they can ride like a professional race rider and turn into corned beef hash on the road side, which in and of itself is not a problem really, excep they often take out the bus full of nuns holding babies.

I didn't ride it last year, but typically on the weekend, there will be three to five cruisers on that eleven mile stretch. Three of them will be Tennessee State Troopers. During the week it is typically patrolled by the county.

Too many folks were abusing the public highway and costing taxpayer money to clean up the accidents, plus all the publicity from routine fatalities. The state responded by taking control of the road.

We get what we deserve. Public highways aren't for racing. There are plenty of private racetracks available to test your maximum ability. "The Dragon" isn't readily available for that anymore. For a spirited ride, try the "Hellbender", SR 28.
