  • Lake George 2010

Had a great ride to lake George NY.
    Total miles 613 round trip.
No iron butt; but a lot of fun.
    Beautiful roads in that area

    Bike ran really good!
    All the maintenance paid off.
Thanks for all your help in getting me there.

I was a little bothered by the few stuck up Harley riders I guess by now I should be over it but: whatever.

Looks like a very cool ride!! Glad you enjoyed it.

As to the stuck-ups, well....yeah, just get used to it. You get dissed by some of the crotch rocket crowd as well. They just do not understand or have any clue that your riding the daddy of all those wanna-be bikes their on.

      That really explains it.
If they knew that these bikes were as old as they are, and do what they do; I would think most would have an appreciation for them.

Especially since the only way your going to have one work right is if you make it that way yourself.

They will never understand the feeling you get when all is running right and it was your own two hands that did it.
With the help and support of the fellow XSer's here of course.

        hog riders

i know how it feels when you pass a bunch of hogs all gathered up on side the rode or pass them going the other direction. i soon found out how to get al long with it, now when i see them i just turn my head, or keep looking striaght ahead. they probally fill like sheit because i did'nt look there way. and piss them off because they got so much money tied up in their loud vibrating machines that they spend all week polishing up for the big ride on the weekend. and a poor a$$ like me zooms around him at 90 mph. and i don't look back in the mirrow

Action and Reaction: XS Laws of Physics

Nice pic of that sweeper. (No stops signs or traffic lights...Drool.)

It's great to get out there an' be "representin'" an all dat, eh??? Sadly, exactly what we're representing and WHY is often deliberately misunderstood. (Never underestimate the ability of others to be purposely DENSE and OBLIVIOUS...)

True that most folks will look at an XS cruising through a country lane with an expression that is similar to the way a cow looks at a passing train: "Moo???". A thirty year old bike in good cosmetic/running condition? That just doesn't mesh with the "common sense" that newer is BETTER or that machines are supposed to wear out and then be thrown away.

Sustainable, Rickrod3: Ridable and Repairable instead of Disposable/Replaceable. Classic Suberbike from an Era when anything from Japan over 500cc could shame a Harley. (They have good reason to be more than a little uncomfortable as you pass by barely above the idle circuit...). Their Kung-Fu is NOT strong and they know it.

Keep on finding and riding on those "open" roads. (Open to everyone of course just hopefully they're not all out at the same time and bumper to bumper.)

When you get that reaction from people that makes them scrunch up their face and look like they've got a painful itch in a hard to reach place...

          You're doing something right.

Now, we can't convict all Harley riders. There is a certain sect that I believe has blinders when it comes to motorcycles and only views Harleys as "true" motorcycles. These are usually the weekend warriors with the do-rag and flip-flops on their floor boards that don't wave and have that vacant expression as you pass by.

But they're not all like that. I happen to like the styling of the newer Sportsters. Friend of mine that I ride with some times has one. Took him up to the Kanc weekend before last. It's a nice looking bike and he got comments on it at every stop. I held my tongue thinking about how it's really all off the show-room floor except for the custom bars he mounted.

If only people knew and appreciated true "heritage" bikes.

                beautiful weather for riding!

I just drove up to Burlington this weekend from West Point for a 50th Anniversary celebration my friend's parents were having - passed thru some of the prettiest roads I have seen and many, many bikers up here for the various events - wished I had my bike and was riding instead of caging.

Too bad the weather isn't like this more often huh?

No shortage of nice roads and scenery in that area.
Bikes seem to be more popular in Upstate NY. Vs NJ.
