    momentous ride? Was for me!

    I have run the gauntlet! Yes, after a year of riding the safe and quiet back roads of New Hampshire, I have braved the City! Boston...on a Friday afternoon...headed South towards the Cape...in the middle of construction season! As I took the ramp onto the highway, all I could think was 'Holy Crap!'.
    All I can say after facing my ultimate 'new rider' challenge is 'Woo-Hoo!'. What a blast! I LOVE the tunnel! You can hear your bike! It sounds so cool! And I must say mine sounded very growly. It was great! I think the guy in the Smartcar was intimidated! LOL! I can't wait to do it again! For some of you that do this sort of thing all the time I'm sure it's no big deal, but to me(and I'm sure some others, somewhere)I have vanquished a demon today. Feels great! Besides that, everyone is headed for Laconia tonight and it was nice to get so many waves on my journey! I think I'm planning a trip down the Cape when I get back from work next Sunday. Any takers?

    Congrats!! I still remember the fear/excitement of entering the freeway the first time. For the first few miles it would have taken a large prybar to get the seat out of my backside!!

    Glad you conquered a demon!! Not that the superslab is any where near as fun as the backroads, but it sure opens up alot of destinations.

      Congrats

      Sounds like a fun ride! In Dallas traffic all you want is to get OFF. 2 out of 4 are cell phone addicts the third is an illegal learning to drive and the forth is dodging the other three.

      Glad you had a fun ride but don't forget they never see us especially in traffic.

        Mass. Riding

        It has always been a dream of mine to take a ride East. Since I was a very young boy (I am 53 now) I have been fascinated by Salem, Mass. It is hard to explain..but I can imagine how lovely the countryside is there.

          Ride East...

          Welsh, I too am thinking of a ride East to visit my old stompin' grounds. Maybe we could do this together....
          You can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life...

            Guys, put the bikes on the train a week before. Hop a plane and come to the East during 'Haunted Happenings'! There's a great 'Witch City' run that occurs during Salem's yearly month-long party. Plus all the best sights and sounds are available. The weather is cool in the mornings and evenings, bugs are a little bit less prevalent, and the trees look great! Being in Salem, or nearby, would open up a ton of different 'East Coast' experiences for you to try while you're here! A ride up the Coast to Maine for 'lobsta'...A ride into Boston to Fenway Park, Beacon Hill, The Freedom Trail...A ride South to Cape Cod for clams, Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard(bikes take the ferry cheap)...Everything is less than an hour away, you could see it all!
            It would be one hell of a trip! Shipping bikes by train is relatively easy, and fairly cheap.
            If you ever decide to do it, let me know...I'll show ya around myself!

              you could see it all!

              I tend to forget that there are other beautiful places to Xsperience other than CA CA land. Been a decade since I've been to the east coast.
              You might post some pics for the traveling challenged

                I hear that

                Be careful of those expansion plates!!! They "fix" them every year, but even in 4 wheels they still suck. I took my first long distance ride from my house in Braintree to the Cape 2 weeks ago and I felt the same way. Its scary for a while, especially when people on cell phones cut into your lane with no blinker, but once you conquer the fear the ride is exhilarating, especially on the xs.
