  • The Long Island Duck

Yesterday it was in the 70's here, had nothing planned so I just pointed the bike 60 miles East. Wound up out by Riverhead and stopped at 'The Duck". In the 30's this used to be the storefront for a duck farm that sold ducks and eggs. The duck farm has been out of business for years so now the duck is just a roadside oddity where they sell duck related souvenirs. It's built of wood and stucco, the eyes are tail light assemblies from a Model A Ford and at night they're lit! It's been moved once or twice over the years and now it's been taken over by the town and the plan is to make the location into a working duck farm again.

Only a Long Islander would appreciate this

I was born and spent the 1st 15 years of my life living on L.I. and I do remember seeing that duck way back in the 60's...damn that brought back a flood of memories...that would make an excellent tag for a game

damn. I posted a picture of the duck, but I can't see it at home on Firefox. It's visible on IE. What's up with that?

Whoever coined the phrase livin' the dream forgot to mention whether it was a good dream or bad dream.

I just finished working on some projects for Riverhead and Ronkonkoma, interesting to see the names come up somewhere else!
