Just thought y'all would like to hear about this day ride I took with Mike. Shack attended for a very short time.
Since guys and baby showers don't mix. Well at least in my book they don't....;-P I planned this little day ride to hide out...;-P
Shack arrived at my house in Manvel Tx on his real nice Bandit a little before 9am and Mike ran a little late due to fog south of here which slowed him down. He was coming from Wharton.
I should have made a comment about his new Bandit just being slow but decided to be nice and not say anything.
I traded my old but still good carb boots to Shack for his leaky ones. I'm going to use them to build the jig in the tips section for getting the float levels all the same. Shack wants me to do his when I get it built. Sorry Shack it gets tested on mine first...;-)
We finally got under way about 1030am and ran up 288 into Houston and promptly got stuck in a traffic jam that took an hour to get out of due to contruction on the 45 to I10 ramp.
We made it over to 610 and I spotted a Denny's and dove off the exit for some much needed breakfast.
Afterwards Shack decided he did not have enough time to continue on so we parted ways and headed out.
It was a gorgeous day!
We headed out I10 to Brookshire and took 359 to 362. 362 is full of long sweeping turns. The kind that really get the blood pumping if taken at an agressive or should I say XSive speed..;-)
In Waller we turned down 2920 which is mostly rolling hills kind of ho hum by comparison but the scenery was nice and not much traffic. Once in Tomball I topped off my tank and we took 249 in to Magnolia where my brother had entered his fully restored 1960 Cushman Eagle in a local car show.
He took 1st place in his catagory.
There were a lot of really nice cars and trucks out there. Everything from Street Rods to Low Riders.
Me and Mike helped my brother load the Cushman in his truck and followed him home to help unload it.
We took off and went up 149 north over to 105 in Conroe. 149 has rolling hills and some nice turns. But by then the traffic was a little to much to play any. It was still a lot of fun.
We stopped for lunch at the Golden Coral and pigged out.
And talked mostly about our trip so far.
This time we both filled up with gas and headed back.
We took Beltway 8 from 45 over to 59 and we split up at 59.
We had a lot of fun cruising the back roads and the weather could not have been better. Looking forward to the next time.
Oh yeah! One more thing! And this is just for Wayne!
The Golden Coral has changed to all you can eat buffet style.
Did I say we had STEAK!?!?!?.....;-)
Take Care!
Keep the Shiny side up and the rubber side down!
