This was our first ride together from here in southwest OH.Four of the eight made it. We met in New Richmond OH,a cool morning as rode Ithere in the upper 30's to the lower 40's but with a sunny day made for some good riding.
Here we are about ready to go as we waited for a few straglers.
The first stop while not far away was the home of Grant's birth place with a little museum across the road.
We then did a little stop at Meldahl Dam and a short barge was going thru and we saw a paddle wheeler up rivers away but didn't wait for it.The observation deck is fenced off.
As we keep going east on RT.52 you can see the wind kicking up the river a bit and as I am watching the bow of a barge break thru the water throwing it on it self I almost miss the turn off for the ferry to KY,I had to hit the binders harder than what I wanted.
The water is a little rough but no white caps and the ferry gave a steady ride, the metal deck was a little wet but didn't give us any problems.
Well got off at Augusta KY and found RT 8 and continuned east to Maysville KY along some nice road and scenery to the flood wall.( Can't find the pics now, will edit them in later)but on the river side of the wall a great view of the river....
From there we crossed back into OH and RT52 west to Ripley and the Rankin House.
And as Doug said 120 years of History....
And so we left the scenic old man roads to a brisker pace on some lightly traveled but well maintained roads to our final destination in Perintown OH on RT50....Gotta admit it was one of the better rides this year,I liked the cooler temps 48~62. Good people to ride with and hope to do it again
My bike was a fading memory...didn't take any of it up close...but it lives on in my memory........
