The Cardinal Sin

Yes brothers and sisters, I have sinned against you.
I went to Maine to be with my Mom for her 70th birthday, and it just so happens that my bestest buddy Aaron owns an 80something Sportster. I had talked to him a couple of weeks ago and asked if I could borrow his bike for a day and get out and see the foliage. He was cool with that so this past Monday I flew to Boston, and then drove 200 miles to where my Mom lives in Maine. And this was the day after getting home from the 730 mile Talihina rally. Anyway, I had brought my helmet and leathers with me, because it's chilly up there this time of year. The bike had the obligatory oil leak, as evidenced by the stains on my right pant leg. All in all the bike rode good handled good, and accelerated good. I only did about 60 miles but I was on the road for 4 hours. I stopped frequently to take some pics of the foliage, so without further ado, here are some of the better ones.

LOL... Move away from them a while and you'll miss them. At Christmas every year, I go the local tree killer and pop a few sap bubbles on the bark and breathe deeply. It brings back good memories... so I must not have yet known you Pro...

Ah my favorite picture..the second one with the river,I can picture my self with a nice tent,glowing fire,pole in the river and me in a lounge chair with a cooler full,trains rolling by....bike sitting in the glow of the fire....

The second and third pics are of the Sabasticook River. Back in the 60's my great grandfather used to keep a boat tied up on that river. In fact it was just a few feet up stream from where I took the second pic. We used to fish there all the time. There was a dam removed about five miles down stream, and it drastically altered the rivers height. The stream in the second pic never used to flow down hill like that. That water used to be about 6-7 foot deep. In the first pic, just where you see the first set of rapids. That is where we would power the boat up stream, which would be about a half mile from where I took the second pic, and drift on the current until we reached the warning bouys for the dam. We would just drift and fish. That old man grew up fishing that part of the river, and he would know just where to go, and at what time of day, to catch what kind of fish. It was such a shock to see the river at that level.

It may be shallow now but I can still picture me and the better half skinney dipping at midnight and coming back to a beach fire to get warmed up.....still a beautiful little section of river........remindes me of the Little Miami River here in Cincinnati.
