      Day 9 - 10 NY state

      and then home.

We did a round-about tour of the Adirodacks on Day 9 and we zig-zagged through the Catskills on Day 10 on our way home for the last leg of the trip to PA. Ralph and Tracy would continue on after a day of rest at Ralph's and accompany Brent some of the way to Georgia.

Our first stop in NY was full of historical significance, and well preserved.

Brent wants to be a Green Mountain Boy...

      Lefty Sally takes aim:

We went to Lake Placid. Ski jumps poking up through the trees still looks alien...

New York state has plenty of interesting and scenic and cute spots.

Right in the middle of nowhere is Forstmann Castle near Frost Valley, used by the YMCA as a summer camp and big conference center.

Nice photo op just down the road - note we caught the Frost Valley waterfall caretaker troll on camera. She vanished a moment later:

Cute General Store. Brent asks if the water ever really got THAT high??

And speaking of interesting places, this bridge is NOT just another covered bridge. It has a couple of interesting points:
      Longest:

It is a two - sided bridge:

If you stand in just the right spot, at just the right time of day, with the sun and stars aligned properly, with the magic incantation,

the space-time continuum suddenly becomes disjointed and you suddenly find yourself floating a foot above the bridge deck!

Day 10 was just the ride home. We went to Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskills

but it was so hot there were people returning soaked in sweat who could not complete the climb to the falls. We elected to continue home and try the falls some other time.

      End of trip report.
Next year might be Texas, Arizona, Oregon, or who knows...
