    Anticipating other drivers

    Just had my second accident and this time I'm not certain if I'm partly to blame.
    The bottom line is that I anticipated that he was stopping because of a fastfood place by the roadside and instead he pulls a U-turn without warning, while I'm overtaking.
    I know that acting before people actually pull stupid stunts have saved my ass several times, but this time it just served to get me bruises. DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY, they are out to kill us.
    Luckily these bikes are built to stand an XSive battering, so once again the car got caved in, while the XS just got a bit scratched.
    Remember the thread we had a while back about wearing your leather...I'll second that!

    So the car was caved and the bike was scratched... how did you fare?

      Well the leathers luckily took most of it, so I'm only a bit bruised up.
      That was also my original intention to remind people that leathers keeps bones in one piece.

        because everything else REALLY hurts... not that they didn't... but you know what I mean... I hope...

          Glad your ok.

          Full protection gear is a must. I know many like to ride with a t-shirt and no helmet, but when the road and your flesh have a fight, your flesh always looses.

          When I was a pup, my dad caught me riding my little yamaha 80 without my helmet/gloves etc. He had me get on our gravel driveway and crawl around on my hands and knees. It only took a few seconds and I was beggin to be allowed up due to the pain. He then said, "Imagine how that would feel if you hit it going full speed.

          Point was taken, and never fogotten.

            If you impacted with the front of the bike, check things over really well where the neck of the bike is welded to the frame. T.C. rode his for years before he realized there was damage to his.

              I already had in mind to fix the damage to the fairing this weekend, while giving the front a thorough check-up

                    Wayne...It sounds like you had a smart dad. I will have to remember that and relay that lesson with my own son or anybody who ride with shorts and a tshirt to be cool.

                          Thanks all.
                          Seems both insurance companies found him to blame...of course ;-)
                          Now I just looking forward to driving from Copenhagen to Helsinki next week visiting my brother.
                          I might need a new rear tire when I'm there so if anyone knows a good bikestore in Helsinki let me know.
