Stan put together a day ride that let us through the beautiful Texas bluebonnet region surrounding Brenham, Texas.
I brought 4 other bikes with SWMBO and me. My next door neighbor Dave and his SWMBO Sandra on a Shadow, two of his friends on HDs, one with ape hangers! His other friend had nice looking Triumph Bonneville with ape hangers too!
Stan brought his bro Steve and his SWMBO, Del, a dude on a rocking Ducati and another gentleman on a big Yamaha V-Star. 10 bikes in all and we had a great ride! 180 miles door to door for SWMBO and me!
We had some really good BBQ at Big Daddy's in Brenham, did some riding, stopped in Independence, did a little sight seeing and split groups from there.
Dave, Sandra, SWMBO and I went northeast to Washington on the Brazos, the birthplace of Texas, picked up some Texas stuff, walked out to the Anderson river ferry crossing to view the Brazos river.
Its weird to see the river flowing in opposite directions at the same time! Something to do with ground springs pushing the water.
We then blazed a trail up through Anderson and into Carlos. I finally stopped for fuel at 180 miles, 'cause SWMBO was getting nervous at the empty gas gauge. Of course, Kermit had another 90 miles in him before he wanted fuel, but it put SWMBO at ease! Can you all believe I did not have to stop for fuel?
We rolled into College Station, stopped at the Koppe Bridge restaurant and had a real nice Texas style supper with BBQ wings for Dave, chopped BBQ for SWMBO, Chicken strips for Dave's SWMBO and a 1/2 pound burger for me!
I will post some pictures a little later.
Thanks for getting us together, Stan! Hopefully we will see some folks for the Meeting of the Minds 2008 in Hurst, in June.
