    A Ride in Hell

Where was everyone? Took my 1979 standard to the Hell's Canyon Ride, one of the best in the country and blew away those whimpy Harley Boys. I went over 1200 miles that weekend. Places like windy Paulina Highway. 3 cars in 80 miles. Dooly Pass with 188 turns up and over the mountain to Baker City and breathtaking views (very steep drop offs, not for the meek) Halfway Oregon on the way to Hell's Canyon itself which is 2,000 feet deeper than the Grand Canyon.
Hope to see you next year.
    Next up Soap Lake.

I didn't know they had a ride through there. I grew up in Hells Canyon and went to school in Halfway. That would be an awesome ride. There isn't but maybe 2 straight aways on the entire road that follows the river. You have to be carefull though, they do pull several cars out of the river each year. Rocks also fall down on that road quite often. Sucks bad enough in a car when you come around a corner and the road has a bunch of boulders in it. I never had a bike while I lived there but thinking of it now makes me wish I could jump on and head there. Would be a fun trip.

        The rally is june 13-16

I was also out there in August. Brought my sleeping bag and my tent and camped right in hells canyon. Plenty of national forest camping sites along the river. Watch out for bears ( had a couple of visitors at night). Schedule early for hotel rooms (Baker City, Halfway, etc)
        Fantastic ride.
