I don't ride my bike every day, not even every week! I know, blasphemy!! I mostly ride during our wonderful RALLIES here on the east coast. After attending the last XS East in W. Va. and meeting several new Xsives, John(Oldbiker) who lives relatively near me in Richmond wanted to get together for a ride before Labor Day!
So...John came down from Richmond and I drove up from Portsmouth, we met in Surry, Va., and we first rode the FREE ferry across the James River to Yorktown! We barely got there in time before it was full. You can see there were a lot of other bikers out for the same reason!
This is John(Oldbiker) standing beside our bikes, I took off my jacket to stay cool, it was already 85 degrees at 10:15 am!
We took a nice leisurely ride thru the Colonial Parkway from Wmsburg to Yorktown, and visited the battlefield area for a bit.
A nice surprise was to encounter a machine much older than ours!
The owner was meeting a bunch of others in his group, and they arrived by the time we were ready to leave!
We ate at the Yorktown PUB, a nice little place well known to bikers and others.
The view out the window also was a nice bonus!
Amazing how a well played game of beach volleyball aides the digestion!!
Afterlunch we rode around Gloucester a bit trying to find some fun roads, found a few with a few good turns and sweeps. We then stopped for our last gas up in WestPoint, and then we said our "see you laters", and left via W64 west and east to our respective homes. I hit some horrible stop and go traffic for about 8 miles worth before it opened up in Newport News.
My total miles were about 210 or so. Was great weather, good roads, and great company! Can't wait till Suches, Ga!!
