Supertrapp Slip-on

I wish I had done this a long time ago. A plastic bag melted to my head pipe promted the change. Blasted the head pipe and painted high temp black. Ordered a polished SS universal supertrapp slip-on with a 2 1/4" inlet. Since I'm packing a bore kit the Mac seemed to be cutting off my top end. The supertrapp is awesome, and well worth the $161 from Summit. #446-2217

cool i might have to look that route and what mac system did you have and you still have it

I have the 4-1 chrome, or was. I hacked off the Mac muffler just behind the rear mounting bracket. Leaving about 2-3 inches for the Supertrapp to grip on. It worked out to be exactly the same length as the original muffler over all. I couldn't find a cheaper, or better way to fix up a messed up system. Some people don't blast the chrome off before painting, but if you don't the paint won't stick very well. I'll post pics one of these days.

oh ok sounds good i might look at the supertrapp website and see if they make a whole system since i need all new anyways and i think i am going to go with the 4 into 1 over a 4 into 2 like i want just to get alittle more power out of the beast

i went to there website and they dont make a complete kit, so it looks like i am going with jardine or mac so what other companys are out there i need to find a good 4 into 1 exhaust

Bandet, there's a company 'down under' in NZ called Cycleworks. They specialise in performance exhaust systems for motorcycles, both street and track. They've been supplying race bikes for years. Their website is currently under reconstruction, so isn't currently online. They have the XS11 pattern. They made my 4-1 system, has stainless steel canister. The 4-1 clears the oil-cooler. Brilliant bolt-on results. Great sound! They know their stuff definitely. The canister bolts/unbolts with a single 13mm bolt and steel ring.

I put mine, when new, on a 78' a few years back now. The clutch started slipping like crazy! The clutch was solid and never even came close to slipping with the previous exhaust! Power boost was impressive, even without rejetting. With rejetting, it punched out some more extra low and mid grunt. Still have the same exhaust today on another XS. Cost me around $500 or so If I remember right. A few years ago though. Wouldn't have a clue what they'd charge to ship, but this is their enquiry E-mail address. There's been a lot of posts on the XS650 list about how to make a Mac system perform, seems the collector is the wrong diameter and there are other issues on their 650 systems so I'm not surprised to hear that their XS11 systems are all wrong too. Too bad they're just about the only systems available for older bikes. Anybody know of any others? Some smart folks have figured out how to modify the Mac 650 systems to make them work better. I suppose the same could be done to the XS11 ones if we knew what was required.

ok but i beat it cost a arm and and a leg to gedt stuff shipped over seas that is that big and i am thinking about staying away from mac since i remeber me brother having problem with his system on his bike

Some smart folks have figured out how to modify the Mac 650 systems to make them work better. I suppose the same could be done to the XS11 ones if we knew what was required.

Since the 650 is a 2-cyl and the MAC for the XS is a double 2-into-2, the 650 MAC mods should work for us also, or am i oversimplifying it?

Mac makes both 2 into 2 and 2 into 1 systems for the XS650. Or you can just buy the 2 into 2 headpipes without muffs which a lot of people do, then fit EMGO Dunstall replicas.

So whats the noise level like? Stock or louder?

Used to be you could control the level by the number of disks that were bolted in, is this still true? That was on the dirt bike version if I remember correctly.

Yes thats true, you can add or take out discs. Thats the biggest reason why I bought a supertrapp. It came with suggested #'s for different hp engines, and I put in the amount suggested for a 100hp motor. Maybe plus one, I don't remember. But the slip-on made the torque curve smooth as glass. And I can feel alot better breathing on the top end. I truly feels like a fuel injected bike.
