  • XS11 gas cap from BikeBandit

...'was taking the day off - 1st one in over 3 months - 'stopped in at the local gas station to fill up the gas tank...
When I had finished filling the tank the gas cap lock FELL APART... the 2 tiny screws holding the locking mechanism onto the cap would NOT tighten up and the locking lip would NOT fold back to clip onto the other part on the tank so it would seal and gas wouldn't pour out all over the tank and hot engine...
My wife took the other one off the "parts bike" and brought it to me, but the rubber gasket was shot, and it was from a Midnight Special and didn't look right on the SG ('80 Special). The gold was coming off as well....
Logged onto Bike Bandit and they have a replacement gas tank cap with 2 keys for $54.63. 'ordered it and it got here within 4 days! (regular ground shipping)
The part # for my '80 Special is 4RO-24602-01-00
I thought the price was a little high but this gas cap is a brand new replacement for my 25 yr old m/c

I highly recommend BikeBandit if you're looking for OEM parts for your XS11

Is the 650 Special gas cap and gasket the same for the 1100 Special? How many 650 parts are the same for the 1100 (such as petcocks)?

The petcocks on my XS1100SF are different, dunno if you could use the non vacuum replacement from Mikes XS but probably. The gas caps are exactly the same!

TC, Is the above gas cap rubber seal the right one for the SG?
Think I might get that chrome handlebar clamp (direct bolt right on replacement?), and I need to find a few more items to get the total to $35. Looked for the half moons but I guess they were at parts n more. Kind of hard finding those few more items!
